The new possibilities offered by the simulation hardware and software are invaluable in training young physicians in the field of neuroradiology. I was particularly impressed by the life-like resistance and audible feedback during simulated radial interventions, especially when a vasospasm occurred. This feature provides a unique and realistic experience for physicians who are new to radial interventions, significantly enhancing their learning experience. Additionally, the flow diverter module stands out as an exceptional tool. I am not aware of any other simulation tool that offers such a close approximation of the deployment of these intravascular devices, which have a steep learning curve. The ability to simulate different sizes and lengths of the flow diverter system, and to exaggerate the push or pull, is incredibly beneficial. This hands-on practice allows young physicians to understand the consequences of their actions in a controlled environment. Before deploying a flow diverter in a patient, they can gain confidence and competence by practicing with the simulator. This not only improves their skills but also makes the proctoring experience more relaxed, knowing that the trainees are well-prepared to handle real-life scenarios.

Overall, the simulator has improved significantly since the update. There are new cases to explore, additional materials, and enhanced responsiveness during manoeuvres. The interface now looks cleaner, and the new guided procedures are particularly beneficial for less experienced physicians. The videos, in particular, have been very useful. I’m excited to see future developments, such as the ability to upload our cases and test techniques and devices before the actual intervention.
