University Hospital Southampton

Southampton's PAE workshop, the first of its kind in the UK since NICE guidelines were updated to allow the use of prostate artery embolization (PAE) as a treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, brought together Interventional Radiologists from around the UK to be part of this training course. Simulation played a large role in this workshop, held at University Hospital Southampton. Discover what Interventional Radiologists had to say about the use of simulation in learning this complex procedure.

"PAE is one of the most complicated procedures that any interventional radiologist will have done. The anatomy is variable, the use of catheters, microcatheters is very specific. If we can use simulators to...help with some of those complex stages, then it will speed up the training and speed up the competences."
